Good to know
Tips before you start
- Tanking is the most important part of a wet room. It's what stops leaks into the ceiling below.
- Choose slip-resistant floor tiles, or small mosaics that give more grout lines for grip.
- Leave new grout and silicone at least 24 hours before the first shower.
Questions
Do I need tanking for an over-bath shower?
Yes for the area the shower wets. Tanking behind the tiles stops water getting into the wall even if a grout line cracks.
Can a wet room go upstairs?
Usually yes, if the floor is strong enough and there's room for the drain to fall. It's checked at the quote visit.
