Good to know

Tips before you start

  • Ask your electrician to fit socket backs so they sit flush with the new tiles.
  • Darker grout hides cooking splashes better than white.
  • Tiling the whole floor before the units gives the most flexibility later.

Questions

Should the floor go in before the kitchen units?

Often yes, so you can change the layout later. It uses more tiles, so it's talked through at the quote.

Can you tile over my old splashback?

Sometimes, if it's flat and firmly stuck. Usually it's better to remove it so the new tiles sit flush with sockets.
